After making its name as a well-established player in the fixed-line broadband space and broadband services in India, ACT is now all set to launch a new device which will be working just like Amazon Fire TV Stick. Amazon has already been facing competition from other rival brands such as Flipkart in terms of e-commerce. It has able to retain its market share by exciting Amazon offers selling good quality products at discounted rates.
ACT has launches a service, competing with Amazon’s Fire Stick. The service will be called ACTTV+, which is a streaming device which will help you access all the digital content at a minimal cost. Through the launch of this device, the company will be making a mark in the digital entertainment space as well. The ISP had earlier provided a complimentary access to certain local streaming services to its broadband customers and is now looking forward to expanding the same.
According to reports from Telecom Talk, ACT is already going through the trial sessions of its announced media streaming stick with a handful of its trusted customers in Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore. As stated, it will be an Android-based device possibly a box (going by the included marketing photo) which will work either on HDMI or USB.
At present, the company is looking forward to offering its services in a bundle package including a similar device to Google’s Chrome cast and Amazon’s Fire Stick.
ACT Fibernet has partnered with other local content providers including ALTBalaji, Fastfilmz, Hungama, HOOQ, YouTube and Yupp TV with a view to offer free trials to its customers with access to these apps at a discounted rate. Through the collaboration of ACT Fibernet with Yupp TV, the users will have access to more than 200 live channels spanning across 13 Indian languages.
Most of these services will come onboard for ACTTV+ featuring other apps available easily for the Android-based streaming boxes.
With Yupp TV, users also get an access to features such as 10 days old shows at a time. Other features included are unlimited downloaded video storage, original TV Series from Yupp TV, etc. However, it is not yet known that whether the subscribers can access the services from Amazon Prime Video and other related international players such as Netflix. The introduction of such device and offers might serve as a huge blow for the Amazon Fire TV Stick.
No more details have been provided as of now but it is expected that more details will be available as ACT Fibernet decided for a wider availability of the device. Whether ISP will be selling the device as a bundled product or if it will be available openly in the market, will also be known soon.
The Indian entertainment industry is constantly booming with new players in the market and while the streaming is abundant in the market, the streaming devices are limited to Google Chrome cast and Amazon Fire TV Stick.
